Bad Moon Rising
Do you know this song by Creedence Clearwater Revival?
It is a really creepy song, which calms me in a weird way. For some reason, this song helped me to create this piece but up to this day, I have no idea about what is the link between the song and the image.
I do love to create a kind of duality in my pictures. The characters are almost always monsters, but are they really? What are their intentions? Where they are coming from? What motivates them? What motivates this one?
Having a sky that is full of strange floating particles above the atmosphere, creating constant shadows in front of the sun. Having cacti-like plants on the ground and this creature running around in it without a care. Why would it be something that must be feared?
As with humans, only by look, you can never tell. Just one glimpse isn’t enough to form a truthful opinion and yet, we - as humans always do - do exactly just that. :) We form our opinion by our first impressions.
So what do I want to tell with these pictures? That to never judge by the cover? But if it is in our nature, how do we stop it from happening?
Some said that it has some Lovecraftian vibe to this picture, which I am very glad about, even if I haven’t read any of H.P. Lovecraft’s work yet. I should have, but for some reason, I know his works from fellow artists only who are creating pictures related to this world. And the “for some reason” would be simply that I don’t like horror :). So you can say that I am such a hypocrite! I don’t dare to watch scary movies and read horror, but I am drawing these creatures?… And with that, I already revealed everything you need to know about the nature of my “monsters”. ;)
